Recipe: Apple Cinnamon Goodness



I am just on a roll with all these fun healthy recipes. Well, I wasn’t in the mood for a green smoothie really and I was thinking about a smoothie that would make me feel like it was Fall, even though we have only two seasons in Trinidad; rainy and dry season. Regardless, I had apples and I had cinnamon, so this is what went down:

  • 3 apples
  • 3 bananas (frozen and speckled is better)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg or mixed¬†spice
  • 1-2 c Almond Milk (milk of choice)

Add milk to blender, then toss in the remainder of ingredients. Serve cold and ENJOY!

Berry Melon smoothie


Its been a while since I’ve posted a smoothie recipe, which is weird because its summer and summer means smoothie season. ūüôā Moving on…I looked around my kitchen and saw what fruits I had on hand so this is what I came up with, its delicious and refreshing. You will need:

‚Ć™ 3 cups watermelon

‚Ć™ 2 cups spinach¬†(or kale)

‚Ć™ 1 cup berries (I used mixed berries)¬†

‚Ć™ 1 scoop Shredz Blueberry Muffin protein powder (optional)

Blend watermelon and spinach first, then add berries and protein powder. Blend until smooth.

TKP TIP:¬†There’s no need to add water as the watermelon blended will add liquid to the mixture. However, if you want to add some coconut water you can.

This has to be one of my greatest inventions yet! I was searching for a way to spice up my breakfast routine of eggs, green smoothies and oats but¬†something that wouldn’t leave me starving by 10am. It always¬†leads me to making¬†some poor eating choices like sada roti or a panini or something thats no good.¬†Here’s what you’ll need for this dream:
Chia pudding tier:2015-05-19 10.48.17

– 1/2 c Chia seeds

– 1 c Coconut Milk (or milk of choice)

– 1 tsp honey

Smoothie tier:

– 1/2 c strawberries (frozen)

Р1/2 banana  (frozen)

– 1 c mixed berries (frozen)

– 2 c Coconut Milk

1. Mix Chia seeds, honey and milk and leave in fridge overnight.

2. Next day, blend berries, banana and milk together and pour on top of chia pudding.

Cheers to Monday and every day after that, because you’re healthy lifestyle starts over today with these fun, easy yet healthy smoothie recipes for everyday of the week.

1.¬†The¬†Everyday¬†Smoothie- this smoothie has the everyday essentials you’re body needs to get started. It is totally adaptable and you can substitute spinach for kale or your favorite greens, and strawberries for a fruit of your choice.

– 2 bananas

Р3 c. spinach 

Р1 c. frozen strawberries 

– 2 c. almond milk (milk of your choice)

Blend until smooth and chug! ūüôā

2. The ‘Wont-get-another-cold-again’ Smoothie- this is just as the name suggests, its prevents you from getting the cold (again). It is high in Vitamin C so¬†it helps boost your immune system, making it easier to resist the common cold.


– 1 c. frozen mango

– 1 c. pineapple

– 1 grapefruit

– 1 c. water

Slice the rind off the grapefruit, blend together until smooth and chug! ūüôā


3. The ‘Clean yo liver’ smoothie- This smoothie does just as it says…I know, I’m so clever. It it great for detoxing your liver, the body’s “filter”. The ginger helps prevent diseases associated with the liver as well as cleanse the blood. Peppermint will also help your liver by increasing bile flow while breaking down fats and lowering bad cholesterol. Enough with the science, here’s the deliciousness:

– 1 c. mint leaves

– 2 bananas

– 4 ice cubes

– 1 tbsp. ginger

– 1 c. pineapple

– 1-3 c. water

Blend until smooth, and I mean smooth, the ginger can be a pain to get out of your teeth. And CHUG! ūüôā

4.¬†The Healthy Botox¬†Smoothie- since you’ve realized how creative I can be, you already know what this smoothie is about. It’s the beauty smoothie and mostly for healthy¬†skin. Always remember to look for “ACE” vitamins. Vitamin A (spinach, carrots, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and melons). Vitamin C (peppers, citrus fruits, beans, nuts, and all leafy greens). Vitamin E (wheat germ, leafy greens, nuts and whole grains).

Vitamin A- growth and renewal of new skin cells | Vitamin B- Promotes exfoliation and firmness | Vitamin C- gives skin structure, tone and elasticity | Vitamin D- development of new skin cells | Vitamin E- maintain healthy skin tissue | Fat- supple skin and soft shiny hair

– 1 c. frozen blueberries

Р1 c. coconut water 

– 2 frozen bananas

– 1 c. pineapple

Р1 c. mango 

– 1/2 avocado

– 1 chia seeds/flax seeds (optional)

Blend until smooth, then add the chia seeds on top and enjoy your glowing skin beautiful.

5. The TropiKALE Energizer Smoothie- this is what you need to start your mornings off right!

Р2 oranges 

– 1 c. frozen pineapples

-1 c. Kale 

– 2 pitted dates

– 2 c. coconut water

Blend until smooth and enjoy! 

¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† And this time you will have enough energy to enjoy! ūüôā

6. The Vanilla Frosty Smoothie- you’ll enjoy this one out of all I promise. Its fun, and if you have kids its perfect to get them eating healthy.¬†

– 15 ice cubes

– 1/2 frozen banana

– 1-2 tbsp cacao/ unsweetened cocoa powder

– 1-2 c. almond milk (or milk of your choice)

– 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Blend until frothy and I know you WILL enjoy! ūüėÄ

7.¬†Chia ‘Bubble’ Tea Smoothie- I saved this goodness for last as its a healthy spin off of the famous bubble tea that I know you will enjoy.

– 1 c. almond milk (or milk of your choice)

– 2 frozen bananas

Р1 orange 

– 2 tbsp. chia seeds

Blend erythang together except the chia seeds until smooth. Pour chia seeds into the bottom of a glass or mason jar, then top it up with the smoothie and chug! Okay, don’t chug because you’ll choke on this one.¬†

Green Pina Colada recipe



Who says that eating healthy has to be boring. I have been making this recipe when I want to add a little pizazz into my breakfast routine. It’s delicious and the pineapple is filled with vitamin C so it is great for the entire family especially during flu season. This recipe can even be used when you’re having a party and want some healthier options.

Here’s what you’ll need:

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† 2 cups coconut milk/water (organic)

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† 2 cups spinach

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† 3 cups pineapples

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† ¬Ĺ cup Trader Joe‚Äôs shredded coconut

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† ¬Ĺ cup strawberries (optional)



Beginner’s luck green smoothie

I began making these green smoothies within the last year or so and I love it. This is really one of my favorite ways to ensure that I am getting my full servings of fruits and vegetables everyday without chowing down 2-3 bowls of salad per day. Of course you can personalize your green smoothie, however this is my “beginners luck green smoothie” recipe. So hope you enjoy! You can use these measurements as a guide to making these smoothies your own.

Follow: 2 c liquid Р2 c greens Р3 c fruit

Here my beginners luck green smoothie recipe:‚Ä®-

2 c almond milk

– 2 c spinach

– 2 c strawberries

– 1 ripe banana (frozen)

– 1 tbsp. chia/flax seeds (optional)

Blend on the smoothie or liquefy function and Bon Appétit!

Tips for delicious smoothie making:

1. Use frozen fruits

2. Use the ripest fruits for a sweeter more nutritious smoothie

3. A great substitute for almond milk is water with non-fat plain or Greek yogurt

4. For added sweetness use honey or Stevia/Truvia.
